Fellow Cubbers,
So, I've got this beautiful Steve's Aircraft replacement gascolator and go to the hangar to install it today only to find I'm not entirely prepared. The old unit which appears to be a stock Piper Gascolator has the fuel drain fitting mounted outward at a 45 degree angle. Which is what the opening on the lower cowling is cut to fit.
Also, the drain fitting currently installed on the old gascolator is corroded and leaking, which why it's being replaced. The Steve's unit didn't come with a drain fitting, much less an "elbow" adapter or something of the sort which will put the fitting on a 45 degree angle for access. I've been going through my Univair, Spruce, etc catalogs today along with the original Continental manual and all I can find is the complete Piper gascolator for sale in either.
Where can I get the threaded drain fitting, and is there such a thing a threaded version bent at a 45? Citabrickr...save me. If it'll help, I'll post a picture tomorrow.
Mike-
