Wind Driven Alternators/Generators

Is there any of you cub drivers out there using a wind driven Generator or Alternator. I flew a 46 Champ a number of years back that had a radio, intercom, lights for night flight and used a wind driven device and a motorcycle battery to power it up.

Just curious on how they work and what's are the options.
