Hello All , A buddy of mine put a Cont. 85 stroker in a nice clean 65hp Cub that flew very well. ..
the key word was THAT flew normal......... (a typical nice flying Cub) . He had his mechanic build
a very nice C-85 with a new 0-200 crank and a matching new prop too. Anyways the Cub
now flies 85 mph (indicated) and with FULL down trim the plane wants to nose up in a climb.
Huston knows this plane .....hey Huston it's Mike with the J-5 100 hp........and the pink Breezy!
( it has PA-12 wings.) .......Any J-5 stories would be appreciated . It is a Cub through and though
too lol.........I can outclimb Legends all day long ........ask Darrin lol , I am in Sulphur Springs .
The workmanship at this airport is as good as you will see anywhere in the country ....yes I am
a native Texan ........but I can out climb any Cub out here and land just as short hee hee ........
758 lbs. with an 0-200 .......alas, I desire a C-85 from Don's. I always loved the J-5 lol........
looks like the J-3's fat little sister with big hips lol .....uuuhmmmm . The fat man's Cub is what I
must have ....6'1" 275 lbs........ooops :-X ...but a J-3 just don't fit my middle-aged man's torso !
I need one of those curved Aeronca sticks in my Cub ........I love that Cub . Huston is a very nicE
guy for those who have not met him ........the Cub that won't trim is Dorries by the way and Hunky
is going wild trying to fin answer........wild the way the J-3 flies like a super cub gettig off in 2-300 ft
range in Texas heat lol......makes good power wow . jackscrew assembly is in properly and no
slippage of the endless cable . ..............Here is my idea . Put some washin in the wings or get a
prop that will go no faster that the original airspeed indicated.........there must be 100's of 85 Cubs
that can trim nose down at cruise rpm's? ........this is my first post and I really enjoy this website,
Mike
