I purchased a '46 J-3 with a C-85 back in November, and have about 50 hours in it so far. I am having a blast in the airplane, but have a creeping trim issue that is annoying. I have read through all of the J-3 trim threads that I could find, and it seems like most issues stem from the cable slipping in the pulley. I have a different problem. My entire trim system creeps during flight i.e. I can watch the trim rotate counter-clockwise (up trim) while flying. As expected, it is more pronounced at higher speeds, but I would estimate it averages approximately 1/4 turn (of the handle) per minute at cruise, which is enough to be a nuisance. Is there a friction point at some point in the system that can be tightened to fix this? Thanks in advance for the help.
