I didn't own this J3C when the engine was rebuilt, but a review of the records indicates that the engine & carb were basically rebuilt to A-75 specs, including change of crank, drilled connecting rods, "A75 pistons" and the carb also was rebuilt for A75 requirements. It performs great, but there was no STC done and the prop pitch does not allow greater than 2300 RPM, so I suppose I'm not really getting the extra HP. Having it legally declared an A75 would perhaps make it easier to sell later on, but I'm assuming it is a difficult process which is perhaps why the previous owner didn't pursue it. Guidance from those who know would be much appreciated.
