Here is a video of what is happening. Basically, at cruise the engine will do this sort of 'stutter' thing that I cannot really explain easily. If you watch the video you should be able to hear it happen and notice the plane sort of lurch a little bit. This doesn't happen taking off, but only at cruise (when not climbing) and happens randomly. This started after the annual inspection, but not sure if that is related or not. Before that, new spark plugs were installed as the old ones were fouled so I just opted to have all of them replaced.
Since noticing this, I have had the carburetor removed and cleaned, and the fuel screen checked. The tank fuel screen was clean, and the carburetor had a little dirt but nothing too dramatic according to the A&P. After he installed the carb and the other gear, the fuel line between the tank and firewall cracked (copper) and was replaced. I would say that the fuel delivery system has been gone through.
Any ideas where I should check next? I'm afraid it points to some other more serious problem like a sticking valve but I have my doubts. I was thinking magnetos but wanted to bounce the question off of others before I continue. Timing perhaps? Magneto Switch?
