OK I know I am a low posting member, I am very near being complete in my sign-off as well. I will be looking to purchase a plane soon and abandoned the idea of a "project" as I would rather fly than work every day when it's nice out. The perspective question about wood spars is inconclusive to me at this point. I have had a IA/CFI tell me that wood spars get harder and stronger with age and should be left alone provided they have no rot or mildew issues. The again another CFI/IA tells me that they need to be replaced after 40 years of service , regardless of condition. All this is of course pending there is no compression or any other cracks. I am unsure at this point and may have let a couple of really good deals on a few planes get by me because of this. I may end up with something other than a Cub for now....I will eventually have one .......one day hopefully. I just want to have a safe plane to call my own and build time in. Thanks in advance.......still looking for pre 60's taildragger LSA...................Mike ???
