I've read through a couple threads but still have a couple questions on understanding Static RPM and what it means as far as the engine and changing pitch.
Currently have a 7140 on a C85. Hits about 2350 static (max 2550 min 1950 per TC). About 2450 on climb out, about 2525 WOT level flight. Haven't looked for exact number under different conditions.
Does a flat prop like 40 not spinning closer to max static imply anything about the engine?
Any preference on where you would like static to be within the range allowed by the TC? It seems if I had a higher static rpm, there might be a greater danger of over-revving the engine, currently doesn't rev near the limit unless I'm diving. Don't usually fly WOT in level flight anyway.
Not considering changing anything right now but might consider a cruise prop in the future.
