Not much seems to be happening on this site regarding restoration. But, I got the final yellow coats on NC55100. A couple pix are attached showing the move from orange to yellow.
The whole process was terrifying. I didn't have to deal with any runs which was a minor miracle for me. This is my first full paint job with poly fiber. I do have the odd bit of bumps and spits that I don't think I'll be worrying too much about. You have to get really close to see them, and since I'm doing this aiplane as a daily flyer, not for show, I think I've reached the point where "better is the enemy of good enough." I'm sure the more I diddle with the paint from here on, I will be stepping backward. Best to save what I've learned for the next paint job on the next airplane. Not that this one is beautiful as it is. Now I'll move on to covering the landing gear, the lower door, and getting the lightning bolt on.
What is the best recommendation you all have for doing that lightning bolt?????
