I finished my nnual in March before I left for overseas and didn't have enough time to take her for a post annual check flight.
After spending a couple of hours re-looking over everything, I spent 30 minutes doing laps within gliding distance of the runway since she hasn't flown since December. No problems, and what a rush to have the door down for a beautiful view of Mt rainier!
However, on my post flight inspection, I noticed one of the lower cowling attach posts on the bottom completely sheared off just above the cotter pin. Must've been the 60+ years of wear and tear. So (John), is it another month down while a new post is welded in place, or is this something that can wait? The rest of the cowling is secure with no apparent issues.
I also learned to be more cautious of painting duing the dark, cloudy days of winter in the NW, cuz' when you pull your plane out in the sunny spring, you find out your paint doesn't exactly match the way you thouht it would!
