Hello All,

My name is Matt and I am brand new to the forum and J3 ownership. For the past 10 years or so I have been flying high performance Super Cubs and Super Cruisers. Current conditions necessitate scaling back to LSA. That being said I have been used to lots of power, and will now need to set up the J3 for max performance. The bird now sports the Cessna 150 prop which I understand to be lacking at best. I have not flown her yet as I am completing some repairs.

I have snooped around a bit and see the Mac 1B 90CM 71 41 seems to be a popular choice. I also have seen reference to 1B 90 CM 74 40 as well as the Sensenich 76AK-2 46. Not having experience with the aircraft or any of these props I need a little direction. Would the better efficiency of the longer props yield any benefit on the J3?

I currently reside in Florida ( sea level ) and would like to see 1000FPM and 90 MPH or better if possible. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Has anyone used the Aeromatic prop or know of pros or cons associated with this prop?

Thanks in advance,
Matt
