I have a recently overhauled C85-12 done by a reputable shop. The overhaul was done using only the best parts new cylinders, new cam new lifters you get the idea
So here's the problem the engine was a little low on takeoff RPM witch was cured by repitching the prop (now at 71/40) now it turns like the devil but goes nowhere
This engine just sounds off I have over 2000 hr behind various 85s & none of them act like this one just seems lazy. Compression is good all in the mid 80s, mag timing is dead on. I hope I am wrong but I am leaning toward the cam gear being a tooth off. Any thoughts ??? Would it be possible to see the timing marks through the generator opening???
Thanks JR
