Hello all, I just became j3-cub.com's newest member. I had a 1946 C-90 J-3 about 20 years ago and bought a 1940 Reed Clipped Wing this spring that I plan to recover / restore.

I bought this project as a flying J-3C complete with a latex paint job and an undocumented O-200 installation. I also bought the runout C-85 that was installed in it since it was clipped in the 60's.

I have read some about the STC's (or lack thereof) and what not for installing an O-200 in a J-3 on this and various other forums and understand that I need a 337 Field Approval for putting an O-200 into a Reed Clipped Wing. The O-200 is low time and I don't want to spend the money rebuilding the C-85, although it may come down to that. I have been in contact with my local FSDO and I might be able to get a 337 Field Approval for the O-200 installation, so I am starting the research.

It would be super helpful if anyone could give me the N number(s) of any J3s with an O-200 installed (both clipped or not), particularly if it was done on a 337.

The Univair STC will not help me as I have a "Reed" wood spar modification. And the misleading Univair "Reed Clipped Wing for a metal spar" STC for a one off plane that does not exist will not help either.

I have seen some of JimC's posts from a few years back. He was an O-200 / J-3 advocate who had bought the Univair STC but decided to do a 337 instead. Does anyone know the N number of that cub?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to enjoying this Forum! ;)
