Any J-5 owners;
As some of you know, from the topic "Query about getting two key J-5A parts" I posted a couple of days ago, the lower cowl of my A-75-8F equipped early model J-5A, which was tired anyway, was again dinged in an emergency landing. It was recommended that I contact Rob Palmer, the maker of some fine J-3 equipment, including cowlings. This is the response I got:
"Thanks for the email, I've actually been looking for a decent J5 pattern to work with and would be glad to build you a new set using yours as patterns. It would work out great for me and I would be able to supply as many new ones as needed to the other guys once I have those patterns."
Frankly, I can't see saying no to this - J-5 parts are few and far between, and most birds are probably like mine, with some pretty tired parts that we have to make the best of. So, If you own a J-5 and wish you could get a new cowl for your "show bird", it looks like you may have a new Christmas list item.
I'll let you know the price when I find out.
Mark
