So when it rains, it pours. Looks like I have a longitudinal crack in my front floorboard on my '46 J3C-65. I'm in Florida and the bird is in Idaho; we're going out for 2 weeks at Labor Day. I'd really like to do some flying while we're there, and I really don't want to chance flying it like it is. So, I'd appreciate any hints from you guys with following:
1. I understand it's got to be a bear to replace the front floorboard. Looks tight under there. I've got two inspection holes right under the front, but I'm not sure if wouldn't be easier to just remove the fabric locally and repair it.
2. Can I remove the front floorboard without removing the engine and boot cowl. Sounds like you can but you have to cut some bolts off. Can you get new bolts back in?
3. I looked at an earlier thread where Joshualober had a link to a thread that doesn't exist anymore.
4. Any suggestions for a temporary fix just to fly while we're there then fix it this winter.
Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.
