Interesting subject for all those out there in the expert class of Cub restoration. You purchase a freshly overhauled engine for your nice 100% show quality restoration. The engine has been completly done by an A&P Mechanic and the logs are completly signed off (properly) and each item is quoted with w/o number company and all the details of the overhaul, As per the overhaul manual. The A&P has then signed his name and number in the books. Lets say this is a A65 for augument sake. Your nice young man mechanic installs the engine and says he cannot sign it off because he does not have the yellow tags. The reason is the FAA may show up and inspect the aircraft and he would be in trouble for installing an engine that he did not have the yellow tags for. Question for the experts
1. Is he correct that he must have the yellow tags or the FAA will ding him
2. Is in fact the overhaul completed 100% at that point.
3. If not complete what part is not and why
This is a test and if you score 70% or better you win free advice for 5 min
