Hoping someone here can show me pics or drawings of of the mechanism originally used for latching the upper cabin door to the wing when open, as used on J-3s and L-4A & B models with wooden spar wings.

Currently, I have a simple swiveling bail made of steel wire attached to a hinge bolted to one of the original 1943 aluminum multi-piece wing ribs. The uplatch looks too new to be original. There's a rib truss right there, so things appear to be strong enough. It works fine, but the correct parts would be nice. The drawings in the original J-3 parts list show nothing at all.

I'm not certain whether the parts pictured below should be used with wooden spars. For that matter, should the spars even be drilled at all other than where they originally were?

Thanks!
