It is my understanding from Sentimental Journey that Paul Babcock has been granted an STC to install Continental engines on J3F and L airframes. I don't have specific details, but believe it covers 65, 75 and 85 hp engines.

While some will grumble about having to buy the STC, this will put to rest this decades long issue for some Cub owners. Under the present rules, the FAA will no longer grant a 337 for an alteration for which an STC exists so, this is now the route.

I do NOT know enough to say for sure, but I wonder if you have a J3F with an A-65 installed and you want to install a C-85, will have to buy the STC? I'd guess so.
