A friend is restoring a 46 J3 that his dad had almost completed at the time of his death. The ailerons and tail were sent off later to someone else for completion. Got em back today and they look great, except the rudder is for either a SuperCub or Pawnee (fits OK though). The left aileron fits fine. But the right aileron doesn't fit. The two outboard aileron hinges fit fine, but the inboard one misses the wing hinge by almost exactly half the bracket width. Any idea what may be going on here? Preliminary measurements of the wing indicate it is OK, so the problem appears to be with the inboard hinge on the aileron. I suspect the aileron isn't for a J3, but don't know yet.
Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions.
