I've decided to sell my third Cub in order to restore another airplane. It's a 1941 Lock Haven, s/n 7008. N38439. The airplane was rebuilt by a retired
airline mechanic after sitting in storage for 50+ years. The prior owner apparently bought it, took it apart and stored the airframe in his hangar. When
it came time to retire and sell everything he had a pair of metal spar wings that the airline mechanic bought with it. The C-85 conversion is fully STC'd.
The engine was rebuilt at the same time as the airframe. New logbooks were started - the old logs are long gone - and the best starting estimate was
2000 hours for both airframe and engine based on FAA records.
The airplane is not junk. It was restored as a flyer and not a show plane. The price reflects that. Since buying it a year and a half ago, I've put less than 35
hours on it. The airplane is in western North Carolina and I live most of the year in Florida. I've installed a new Steve's gascolator, new prop, new fuel shutoff
valve and new tach cable - all stuff that would need replacement on an airplane that had been sitting unrestored for a long time.
Pictures and more info are available on request. This is a clean, solid airplane with a fair price on it. $33K.
P.M. me or try to call at 727-465-6290. My cell coverage is pretty awful where I live so P.M. is the best way to reach me.
