Uncovered my wings today and found this on the rear spar just aboard of the 3rd rib from the butt rib. By the way, this is a 1946 J-3 wing.
The picture makes it look worse then what it is. With that said, my friend who is an IA will be stopping by in a day or two to take a look. The wings were recovered about 17 years ago, but were never installed. The spars had been primed with an epoxy primer. What caught my eye was a little roughness in the paint. When I cleaned it, I didn't see any powder. The white in the picture is just light reflection. I'm leaning towards replacing it.. I'm curious if you think it's serviceable or should be replaced? Thanks for any input.
