Need some expert pre-war Cub info.....I disassembled the shock struts for my very early (serial 2061) 1938 J3, "Miss Dairylea" and noticed that neither upper shock strut had the metal slider in the slot...the 1/4" bolt holds the two together and acts as the upper and lower limit when it hits the leather stops at each end. I have three more pre-war upper struts and they don't have the slider either. My thought is that because the gross on my plane is 1000 lbs, it never had that slider. I don't think they are 'missing' as the assemblies are welded units...no way to put the slider in unless I cut and re-weld them. Any thoughts?
