We all are aware of the AD involving the seat sling inspection on a J3, but today I found my butt on the controls after the right front cross tube support bolt sheared. It happened while landing. Now I know what your thinking but I only weigh 158 lbs. and admittedly I let it drop out in calm conditions from a foot high three point configuration. I found myself struggling to stay ahead of a ground loop without rudder authority. I couldn't believe I had ripped my new sling or new line but after inspection found the bolt at some time had been replaced with a 10-32 screw and lock nut instead of 3/16. I plan to modify my annual inspection to include a look at these fasteners, and encourage those who have not looked at theirs to do so. If this had happened on a high speed pull up or bumpy air it could have been catastrophic!
