Replacing fuselage tank: Help!!

Hi All: Working my way through some repairs on my 46 J3 I just bought. Fuel tank has slight leak so I am replacing it with aluminum tank from Wag Aero. I was told you could pull the old tank straight down after removing the removable brace. Wow. Struggled with it for quite some time and can't get it out. Any suggestions. Do I have to pull it out the top after removing the windshield and boot cowl?
