Ok all you FAA savy guys and gals. Here is something I ran into today when my annual was finally signed off. My IA looked at my AWC and said it was outdated. In one of his IA continuing education courses he remembered that something was said about it. He called a DAR and the DAR agreed that I should get a new one issued or the plane is not airworthy. I must have missed something along the way because I thought that as long as the certificate was in good condition that is stayed with the airplane forever. Mine was issued by the CAA in 1956 when my L-4 was surplused to the Civil Air Patrol. The DAR said that since the current AWC did not require a serial number that it is outdated. The replacement ones have a block for the serial number.
Has anyone run into this before? I couldn't find any reference on the past threads. Maybe I was not searching correctly.
