Oil leak overhauled C-85-12F

A friend just did his first startup on a freshly overhauled C-85-12F. The top through stud at the front of the front main bearing is leaking like a sieve. Not a jet, but you can see the oil seeping down the outside of the crankcase when the engine is running.

Any thoughts about likely causes and fixes?
