I just finished a 500 hour mag inspection on my Slick 4330's. Inside the mags looked like new, but the gears and impulse couplings were badly worn. I believe at some point the mags were replaced but the old gears and couplings were reused. This took its toll on the cam and crank gears as well. I pulled the magnesium accessory case and replaced it with a fresh aluminum case, oil pump gears, new cam/crank gears along with new mag gears and couplings. Just restarted today and I'm really pleased with the results. Before, the engine sounded as if it had several valves tapping. Now it runs smoothly and all of what I thought was valve noise is gone!
