Found this on NORDO NEWS. This is important folks! It ain't often that Sam actually takes a look at what we need, and at least act like they give a rat's ass about antique aircraft.
FAA PROPOSAL OPEN FOR COMMENTS
A new advisory circular proposal is out on PARTS AND MATERIALS SUBSTITUTION FOR VINTAGE AIRPLANES. This AC intends to make suitable replacement parts selection easier and expedite the field approval process when needed for vintage aircraft (small airplanes type certificated (TC) before January 1, 1980 that have a maximum certificated weight of 12,500 pounds or less). There is little time to comment on it as comments are due by August 13, 2008 but do so because it offers one great morsel to GA. Among the many things proposed is that you may use previously approved (per STC or field approval) part/material substitutions on like-type aircraft.
Go to the FAA SITE on Advisory Circulars Open For Comment. Scroll down until you see AC 23-27 titled "Parts and Materials Substitution for Vintage Airplanes", then read it and comment.
