In the Feb 1942 L-4A factory photo that Temagami posted (Thank you, great photo!) in another thread about the rear cockpit canvas piece, there is a detail I've never noticed before that looks to be reinforcing channel underneath the rear desk / shelf. Is this standard on all L-4 models, is it shown in any drawing? What do you guys have on your L-4's? I have all the original desk mounting tabs on my L-4 and I see no evidence that anything was ever welded across the longerons, so I'm guessing it's attached only to the plywood shelf to stiffen it up a little, similar to the channel pieces underneath the rear seat plywood?
