Just wondering what anyone would think an original L-4 dataplate would be worth?

We're trying to track down the lineage on it, as the airplane was registered at one time, but the owner of the dataplate got it (dataplate and airplane) with about 20 other warbirds he bought in the 60's. The airplane has been struck from the registry. I don't know if someone could resurrect the airplane, and he fears the sale of the dataplate could be put into place for someone to start a project that might come back to him in a legal way later on.
