Hi All,
My 1946 J3 sits on the ground with the right wing low. The problem appears to be an issue with the landing gear geometry. The left gear seems to be 'tucked' in a little bit more than the right gear, raising the left wing, and lowering the right wing. Viewed straight-on, the right wheel/tire has approximately 0 degrees camber, while the left wheel/tire seems to have about 10 degrees of chamber. The 'cross tube' on the left gear is a slightly different yellow than the rest of the gear, so my suspicion is that it was replaced at some point in the past. The gear acts like this piece is slightly too short causing the left side gear to be slightly pulled in.
I've included three photos to illustrate the problem. The first is the plane as viewed from the front showing the low right wing. The second shows the 'normal' right gear, and the third shows the 'tucked' left gear annotated with a red arrow showing the suspected replaced cross tube.
