I own a 1941 J-3 and cannot retrim the aircraft in flight. The only way to do so is to slow down to just above stall and adjust the trim - not very practical.

I've read some past threads on this and have read about the different "fixes" from friction tape on the front pully (which I suspect is the one on the crank handle), to o-rings (not sure where they go), to modifying the trim system to the later two-wheel design (I'd like to aviod this expense and hassle).

I've had two A&Ps familiar with these planes look over the trim system and they say it is all within spec.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Craig
