Going from Land to Water

Hello:
I am still looking for a Cub, and have run across a few with floats. What I really don't understand is how does the plane make it from Land to the Water. These are not amfib floats, just the standard EDO 1320.

I have seen videos of planes with floats landing on grass so I guess that is how you go from water to land, but what do you do if your plane is not next to the water and you have to go from a runway to the water and you don't have amfibs?

I live in class D airspace if that helps with the discussion. All runways are concrete. The nearest sea base is in a town called Seeley Lake Montana (M35). The closest grass airport to the sea base is 23S which is about a mile away from the sea base.
