I'm into my airplane so much money now, I decided to look closely at the exhaust system before I hang the engine for the second time to see if there wasn't something there that needed more of my money. Sure enough, the exhaust system itself is nice and fresh, but when they did the engine re-install after major, they put the old heat muffs back on. The main muff, the horizontal muff isn't too bad. No patches, or thing spots as far as my AI can tell. But the "vertical" muff is a mess with many patches and some holes cut to clear the clamp bolt that holds the vertical exhaust stack to the rest. My AI also says that there is a 25 hour inspection AD on the muff system and exhaust to look for exhaust leaks into the muff system.

I there any replacement exhaust and or muff system that gets rid of that inspection?

If I am going to replace the muffs, is there a better place to find the replacement...better materials etc.??
