Several months ago, we stored a Pawnee fuselage in my hanger. In shuffling stuff around to make room for it, the PA-11 got shoved up against a battery that was sitting nearby, so that one of the battery posts was touching a lower longeron. When I noticed it today, the contact point was covered in a mass of white corrosion.
Sure enough, the battery had eaten a hole in the lower left longeron about 2 inches long by a half inch wide. What is the appropriate method for repairing this? I'd know what to do if it was plain old rust, but I'm somewhat concerned because of the electrolytic source and the possibility of associated damage elsewhere in the fuselage. Also, is there any way to splice so that it doesn't show when the fuselage is eventually recovered? This fuselage hasn't had longeron repairs before, so still looks pretty good otherwise.
