I have a PA-11 (C-90) with 8.00-4 tires and Grove disc brakes and was thinking about getting big tires (maybe 25x11x4). I land mostly on grass runways (as in official runways listed in the FAA chart supplement) in good shape, and occasionally land on hard surface if I have to.

I know there are a lot of strong opinions out there, I'd just like to get them all in one place. What are the advantages and disadvantages. What's involved in terms of modifications if any to brakes or wheels ?

My plane is pretty light and it's usually just me, so weight is a little issue (e.g. during flight review), but not a huge issue...
