May of 2006 was a tough month. I sold my Cub to friends and was preparing to close out my flying career. June of that year brought me a Champ after the tailwheel withdrawal became too much to bear and that went well, but it wasn't a Cub. So now, nearly 5 years along, I have another CUB! It's the first airplane I've owned that is older than I am ... 4 years older, almost to the day. A 1941 J3L-65, metal spars and re-engined with a C-85-8F ... good for me, since I wouldn't have put a starter or electrical system on it anyway and good for the clearance between accessories, muffler and firewall. I bought it during a frontal passage with frog-strangling rain so haven't flown it yet. News and pictures forthcoming after I get it to the Western North Carolina Air Museum, maybe next month.
