Annual Condition Inspection Requirements

1. An A/P or I/A can perform an Annual Condition Inspection on a SLSA aircraft, as long as he has permission from the Manufacture, in the form of a Letter of Authorization for that S/N Aircraft.

2. NOTE: In some manuals (Cub Crafters) it states that Major Repairs, and Condition Inspections can only be performed by the manufacture.
There for, you can not do this without a Letter of Authorization from the manufacture.

3. You must have on hand, the Maintenance Manual for the aircraft S/N that you are working on. Not a Shop Manual, you must have the Manual for each aircraft, since these Manuals are S/N Specific

Persons Approved to do Work and Repairs

Listed under Authorization to Perform:

If this states that only the manufacture can perform this task, then no one other than the Manufacture can do this task without a Letter of Authorization.
If it states that a person holding a light-sport repairman with "maintenance" rating (LS-M). Can perform this Task, then he can But!! Note!! No One Including an A/P or I/A can perform this Task, unless they have a Letter of Authorization for that S/N Specific Aircraft! (If it doesn’t say you can, then you can’t)
EXAMPLE: (this is from Edsel Ford, with the FAA AFS 610 Office)
If in the maintenance Manual, under Battery Removal, It states that the manufacture or owner or LS-M, can perform this task, Then only the ones listed can, Not an A/P or I/A!!
Only those listed can perform the task!!!

In The Cub Crafters Manual, it states the following;
No Maintenance, Repair, or Alteration is authorized at this time for this CC11-100.

Under Section 6.1 page 2, for Line Maintenance, Repairs, and Alterations, it states;
Authorization to Perform Line Maintenance, Repairs, and Alterations.
1. The minimum level of technician certification required to perform line maintenance and repairs on Cub Crafters’ CC11-100 Sport Cub aircraft is to be the holder of an LSA Repairman Certificate with either an Inspection or a Maintenance Rating. At this time, only Minor Maintenance, Repairs, or Alterations- as defined in ASTM 2483-05 Section 3.1.12 - are authorized.
2. The task listed in this Manual, and considered to be Minor Maintenance , Repairs, or Alteration task - as defined in ASTM 2483-05 Section 3.1.12 - are authorized to be performed by the owner of a CC11-100 Sport Cub, and who is the holder of an FAA Sport Pilot Certificate.
This means: (as per Edsel Ford with the FAA in the Light Sport Division)
That Only person as per section 1 above, is an LSA Repairman, Not an A/P or I/A!
In section 2 above, only an Owner with a Sport Pilot Certificate can work on it, Not an Owner holding a Private Pilot Certificate!

Under section 5.3 page 4, Annual Inspection;
It does not list any person, Therefore, No one other than Cub Crafters can perform this task, without a Letter of Authorization.
