I'm sitting here working the front desk of my Sprint Store and a little old man walks up. He's 5 3 inches tall and around 115 lbs. His daughter Debbie is our new book keeper and intoduced us. Debbie said " Lee show Dad your plane pictures because he used to fly" . I of course said sure as I was going to my pictures and said" sir have you flown before?". Well Well It turns out that my new 86 yr old friend Harold nickname "Rumpy" soloed a J4 coupe when he was 15. He invited me to come over to his house and look at his pictures from D Day. You see Harold flew P 51 escort in the invasion. WOW!! He also logged several hundred hours in P 47s and P40s. Debbie my book keeper was amazed at how interested I was in it all . She said no one in the family wants to hear his stories. She went on to tell me how disappointed she was at how one of her sons who wants to be a commercial pilot is bored when Harold talks about his service. She said he has all his pics and logs. WELL Mr Harold "Rumpy" just ran into me. Harold has invited me over to look at his stuff and talk about the planes he flew. This fellow will have to run me off. Could not BELIEVE his family does not have a clue . I think it might say something about whats wrong with this country. Nobody seems to care about history. This guy is a walking legend
