Anyone here installed a 406 ELT in a non-electrical J-3?
Searched several ELT threads here and elsewhere and don't see mention of what will work in a J-3 with no electrical system. I presently have an Ameri-King AK450 121.5 unit which just failed on the annual. I want to replace it with a 406 ELT.

The Kannad unit does not require connection to aircraft power for the remote panel operation. Are there other units that also don’t require outside power for the panel?

Where would one mount the remote panel in a J-3? The requirement is for it to be readily accessible to the pilot in the normal seating position, so in or under the instrument panel would not work in a rear-seat-solo J-3.

Thanks.
