This is the award (medal) presented to participants of the Sept. 1941 Louisiana Maneuvers. Aeronca, Piper and Taylorcraft all furnished four aircraft for the maneuvers to prove the viability of light aircraft in combat. They suceeded and in November of 1941 additional orders were placed for aircraft to manufacturers. Aeronca received an order for twenty additional O-58A aircraft mine is one of those twenty. A number of Piper O-59A aircraft were also ordered but no flying example is known to exist of those Piper aircraft..
