Now I've got everyones attention, please know I'm not looking to fit 18gal fuel tanks to my J3.........However

I am looking to ditch the 16gal nose tank and 9gal rear aux tank in my J4.

Having been through the drawings my J4 wood spar wings are almost identical to the construction of the J3, so my question is:

How do 18 gallon tanks interact with the compression struts and drag/anti drag wires when installed in a J3?

Does anyone have a suggestion on which 18gal tank would fit a J3 wood spar type construction?
