In 1957 I twice flew a tricycle gear J-3 (N40842). Can't remember the name of the airport but it was a few miles south of Jacksonville, FL. I'm wondering if this was an STC mod or did Piper produce some of these oddities? This was the first tri gear plane I flew and I chose to rent that one rather than one with a tail wheel because, to me, it was a novelty.
