The hydraulic lifters were still pumped-up and hydraulic locked from the valve train geom established by the cylinder assy that was removed. The rebuilt cylinder will have a slightly different valve stem projection . After looking at the function of the Continental lifter and reading about checking for .030-.110" lash on a new deflated lifter I decided to pull the hydraulic units out of the lifter body and deflate them. Am I correct ?? Interesting that the local A& Ps and IA did not give me that clear instruction but talked about compressing the valve springs to get the rocker arm shaft in. I just didn't see how the units would quickly readjust to a shorter required length by running the engine. Seemed to me the valves might not seat. Comments ?
