I am very close to my purchase of a PA-11 and I have been looking at the flight plan to get it home to Tennessee. We will be picking the airplane up in Colorado as soon as the weather allows us to do it. I must admit I have never flown this far cross country without a radio and limited fuel. The PA-11 has a wing tank with approximately 16 gals. and the engine is a C-85-12. What is a realistic speed and fuel consuption? I was thinking 5 gph and about 200 mile legs. The first leg might even be shorter as this is a fresh engine with only 10-15 of break in time. I have a Garmin 496 and I plan on borrowing an intercom and a handheld radio from a friend. Any tips or ideas will be most appreciated.
