Hey guys,
My parents are looking to retire in the next 5 years or so and wanted to buy some acreage out in the country. I was going to pool my money with them and try and get enough acreage for a landing strip. So, we have a realtor looking around and he's a greenhorn when it comes to airplanes and landing strips. I kind of gave him a list of things to look for in terms of topography, prevailing wind directions, obstacle clearances, etc.
The realtor had a question: "being on small acreage might imply that there are houses on other small acreage tracts adjacent. If you have to fly low over a neighbor's house to land or take off, wouldn't this be a problem?"
I also was thinking about this, too. How do you deal with neighbors that may not like the fact you plan to fly out of your "backyard"? Do you guys find that most of your neighbors don't mind your flying activities? How do you approach potential neighbors if you find the perfect property?
Thanks for any tips!
