Thought I'd ask here for your favorite technique for adjusting the idle speed and mixture on your Stromberg NAS3A1 carb.
I'm running one of these on an A-65-8F.
I've tried Bob Kachergius' suggested method. He advocates starting with the idle mixture screw out three turns, and enrichening from there until the throttle can be rapidly advanced from idle to full power without stumbling. This method seems to work, but the idle mixture then seems to rich; I'm getting heavy spark plug sooting.
Unfortunately, I failed to note the idle mixture screw position that worked so well for so long before pulling the carb for overhaul.
Thanks much!
