Texas Sport Cub N114DE, after about 15 months of work, made its first flight on January 2nd. It actually flew briefly on Jan 1st during taxi testing, but only for a few seconds. The plane flew well with no major problems, but there are some temperature issues that still need work. The Jabiru engine I am running is fairly sensitive to small adjustments in the baffles, and the carburetor jetting may need a bit of work to get things just right.

As a special treat I got called beautiful 3 time last weekend (actually they were referring to the Cub). That was kind of fun. So far my landings have been safe but a little short of beautiful. I am still trying to adjust to the slower approach speed. The way the Dynon D180 presents information is also a bit disorienting after so many years of looking at steam gauges, but I am sure I will adjust.

It sure is fun to have a plane I can fly by myself again.
