I have a '46 J3 s/n 19211 that was made in Lockhaven. It currently has large N numbers displayed on the fuselage. My question is whether any actually left the factory this way or did someone convert the 4" rudder numbers to large fuselage numbers at some point?
I had also heard that the Cubs produced in Ponca City had the N numbers aligned vertically on the rudder and the Lockhaven Cubs' N numbers were horizontal on the rudder. Can anyone verify this?
I would like to get the large numbers off of the fuselage and get them back on the rudder where I think they look much better.
