May I please ask the forum the following
My height is 6ft 4 and my weight 238 pounds (108 kg's).
I am based in Johannesburg, South Africa where our elevation is 5200 ft ASL.
On a hot day the density altitude equivalent can be as high as 8500 feet ASL

Will I battle space wise to fly the J3 from the back seat?
I have tried to sit in the front seat of a J3 and it was a bit tight.

I have the option of purchasing a 1942 continental 65 hp J3, recently fully refurbished with a single axillary wing tank.
I'm beginning to think that I should only be looking at a 95 hp continental J3; often these do have 2 axillary wing tanks which will give better endurance. With the extra power I more than likely can fly 2 up.
The 65 hp is often type -certified which means it has to have an annual inspection by a AMO
The 95 hp is non -type specified, deemed more experimental and is not subject to the more stringent AMO regulations

your thoughts please
best regards
Frank
